Enjoy a visit in Ajijic, Mexico and you’ll get a glimpse of what

retirement is supposed to be like.

Our Ajijic rentals, The Mexican Jewel House and The Mexican Sunrise House, were both built with the intentions of spoiling our guests!

Like everyone says in our reviews, pictures do not do these houses justice.

Ajijic, Mexico is just 30 minutes south of the Guadalajara airport. After a brief and easy taxi ride, you will find yourself in the picturesque, 500 year old cobblestone village of Ajijic. Your hosts, Leo Gutman, his wife Gaby, and their dog Cali, have lived in Ajijic full time for many years. Leo, an american native who is fluent in Spanish, really knows the ins and outs of living in Mexico. He built his own homes, has family in Mexico and has traveled extensively throughout the country. Leo can answer your questions about what it takes to make the jump from working in North America, to retiring in Ajijic and all you may want to know about life in ‘the village’. Gaby is Mexican, and can give you in depth answers from a Mexican perspective. With the quality of life so high, it is easy to understand why so many North Americans call this slice of paradise- home. Not to mention, National Geographic rates Ajijic, Mexico as one of the finest climates in the world! It’s no wonder people call it the land of eternal spring.

CasaGutman has made renting an Ajijic vacation rental easy and painless. Plus, Leo & Gaby have thought of everything to make your stay memorable, regardless of which house you decide to stay in. Both casitas (Spanish for houses) are adjacent to one another for friends and family that desire their own home. They are tucked into the hills of Lake Chapala to give you wonderful breezes and an authentic feeling of life in Ajijic, Mexico – one of the best rated year round climates in the world! If you’re considering retiring to Lake Chapala, you should think about renting a home to experience every day life. We do offer an honest portrait of living life in a Mexican village. If you are visiting for a short time, we can suggest activities to enjoy during your stay: golf, tennis, hiking, gyms, massages, pedicures, hair salons, day excursions, shopping, restaurants, Spanish classes, art lessons, English theater, music concerts, houses of worship, and lectures.

Our Ajijic rentals are beautiful homes built by Mexican architects and designed by Mexican artists. Both homes are located on Angel Flores Street in the prestigious Las Salvias area. Every paint color, all the Mexican tiles, each stained glass window and the fountains were detailed by local ‘maestros’. The gardens are lovingly cared for and the homes are kept impeccably clean and fresh. The beauty of these homes is that they will delight you with Mexican flair: arches throughout, high ceilings, terraces, hand painted furniture and lots of space to enjoy your days.. Both homes have modern appliances, high speed internet hook up and satellite TV. You will have the best of both worlds when you decide to come and visit south of the border. Both homes are strolling distance to restaurants, artist studios, boutiques, local food shopping and the lake.

Our guests continually tell us how welcome they feel from the time they arrive until their departure. We take great pride in making folks feel they are in their ‘home away from home’: comfy beds, soft linens, plush towels and kitchen appliances that can help you create gourmet meals or warm up local food that so many of our guests indulge in during their visits to Ajijic, Mexico.

Please ask us about our favorite restaurants, local take out food. The bakery (Panaderia Rojas) is just 3 minutes from your door and you can smell the breads and rolls baking as you walk up the little alley. Folks drive for miles for his freshly baked goods, but our guests just pop over every morning for warm goodies – location, location, location!

Many of our guests return year after year in summer and in winter. We invite you to escape to Ajijic Mexico and experience the authenticity of the The Mexican Jewel House or The Mexican Sunrise House

It is our little bit of heaven

we wish to share with you!
